Gertie Louise Anderson age 78 of Athens, passed away May 19, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Anderson was born February 22, 1936 in Limestone County to Floyd Self and Mary Lou Gatlin Self.
Services will be Wednesday, May21, 2014 2:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Tim Anderson and Brian Murphy officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of Clements Baptist Church. She loved her Sunday School Class and was very active in her church work. She was retired from Julian Newman School as an Aide.
Preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Anderson; four brothers, Author Self, James Self, F.C. Self and J.W. Self.
Survived by two sons, Tim Anderson and wife Sherry of Athens and Curtis Anderson of Huntsville, AL; six sisters, twin sister, Bertie Martin of Athens; Reba Taylor of Meridianville, AL, Ann Wilson of Madison, AL, Deloris Kirby of Danville, AL, Lorene Montgomery of Tanner, AL and Joan Murphy of Piney Chapel, AL.
Pallbearers will be Jason Anderson, Lee Anderson, Tommy McClusky, Gary Martin, Terry Martin and Phillip Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Anderson and Justin Murphy.
