Funeral service for Stanley Thomas Wallace, 54, of Decatur, AL, will be Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Beltline Church of Christ in Decatur with Steve Smith, Scott Huff and Morgan Wallace officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery, Decatur, AL. Visitation will be from 5-7 Monday, May 19, at the church.
Mr. Wallace died May 17, 2014 at home. He was born on July 4, 1959, in Tuscaloosa, AL, to Mattie Ruth Behel Wallace and the late Arthur Morgan Wallace. He was a 1977 graduate of Tuscaloosa High School and a 1981 graduate of The University of Alabama with a B.A. in Communication. Stan and his family have lived in Decatur for 25 years. He was a Pharmaceutical Representative for 25 years for SmithKline Beecham Labs, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals and Direct Medical Solutions.
Stan was a member of Beltine Church of Christ where he was a deacon and was a co-teacher of the Seekers Adult Bible Class. He was also involved in the Lads to Leaders program, Hispanic Ministry, the Mission Committee, the Kitchen Ministry and the Wednesday night Benevolence Meal program. He also enjoyed cooking for large groups at church and for youth group retreats. Stan had a servant’s heart and always preferred to work in the background. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Linda Stewart Wallace, three children, Leah Wallace Trammell and husband Ronnie of Arab, Caroline Stewart Wallace and Morgan Thomas Wallace of Decatur; his Mother of Decatur; sisters, Dr. Linda Huff of Jonesboro, GA, and Carol Wallace of Lakeland, FL; nephew Scott Huff of Henderson, TN, in-laws Mickey and Martha Stewart of Huntsville, and Gary and Patricia Stewart of Scottsboro, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Benson, Randy Hetrick, Donnie Lane, Allen Lowman, Ronnie Knox, Tim Olinger, Joey Pharo, and Brad White.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Beltline Church of Christ Wednesday Night Benevolence Meal Program, 2159 Beltline Road SW, Decatur, AL 35601.
