Funeral service for Hayse Eugene Smith, 92, of Town Creek will be Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with Josh Howard and Rene Payne officiating. Burial will be in Ferguson Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith died Sunday, May 11, 2014, at his residence. He was born December 19, 1921, in Lawrence County to the late Irwin Smith and Pearl Hall Smith. Mr. Smith retired as a bus driver for the Lawrence County Board of Education and was a dairy farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. His wives, Etoil Butler Smith and Geneva Gray Smith, preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Smith of Killen and Donald Smith (Joyce Ann) of Town Creek; one daughter, Annie Pearl King (Clyde) of Town Creek; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Montgomery, Tevin Montgomery, Ryan Brackin, Benjie King, Ben King, Derek Parker and Steven Bogle. Honorary pallbearers will be Tayden Montgomery, Owen Brackin, Randy Parker, Andrew Saint and Hunter Moreland.
