Funeral service for Andy Casey Roper, 92, of Hartselle will be today, May 13, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Ridout’s Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Charles Maples officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Roper died Sunday, May 11, 2014. He was born February 4, 1922, in Lawrence County. He was a Baptist. He retired from the City of Decatur. Mr. Roper was a veteran of World War II and was wounded in combat and received the Purple Heart and the Silver Star. His wife, Willie Mae Roper, preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Dwight Roper and his wife, Bonnie, and Garland Roper; one brother, William Roper; one sister, Mable Roan; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.
