Richard B. Smithey – Obituary

Richard B. Smithey, 55, Neosho, Missouri, died May 7, 2014, at his home in Neosho following an illness. Mr. Smithey was born Jan. 8, 1959, in Bartow, Florida and moved to the Neosho area in 2003 from Florence, Alabama. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked as an inspector in the commercial construction industry. Richard enjoyed music and was a master guitar player. He loved to fish and loved watching Auburn football. 

Richard and Deanna Griffin were married on April 13, 2005, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and she survives. 

He is also survived by a son, Josh Smithey and wife, Hannah, Birmingham, Alabama; his mother and stepfather, JoAnn and Joe McGill, Florence, Alabama; one brother, Tony Smithey, Pelham, New Hampshire; one sister, Melody Smithey, Tucson, Arizona; two uncles, Jackie and wife, Hilda Hall, and Jim and wife, JoAnn Koonce, Alabama; an aunt, Pat and husband, Rob Sisson, Oklahoma; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vaughn and Della Griffin, Wyandotte, Oklahoma.

Services will be Saturday, May 10, at 10 a.m. at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Russell Duncan will officiate. Interment will be in the Wyandotte Indian Cemetery, Wyandotte, Oklahoma, and serving as pallbearers will be Marshal Graham, Robby Graham, Jeff Thomas, Travis Griffin, Colton Griffin, and Korey Griffin, and honorary pallbearer will be Ty Shaffer. Friends may call today from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m., and the family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
