Funeral service for , age 20, of Decatur will be Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 2 p.m. at First Bible Church, 3202 Spring Avenue, Decatur. Family and friends will receive visitors at the church on Saturday prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Interment will be in Decatur City Cemetery.
Mr. Burgess joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 8, 2014. He was preceded in death by his brother, Johnathan Burgess. Survivors include his guardian, Aunt Jessie Burgess, and caregivers, Joe and Kathy Dupper, Jess and Janet Montegudo, and Wayne and Brittany Campbell. Maurice was born to Shirley Burgess and John Jones, both residents of Decatur. Surviving siblings include Zach Erwin, De’asia Burgess, Tyqueasha Burgess, Donald Burgess, Darrys Burgess, Justin Burgess, Micheal Burgess, Raymond Burgess, Antonio Hayden and Seidyria Bailey. Surviving aunts and uncles include Queenester Burgess, Jeanette McDaneil (Richard), Ricky Burgess, Micheal Burgess, Anthony Burgess and Willie Burgess. Maurice is also survived by a host of cousins, friends, and his First Bible Church family.
