Mrs. Mila Conway, age 92, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at approximately 10:15 p.m. at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on September 27, 1921 in Town Creek, Alabama to the union of John and Annie Goodwin Carter; both parents preceded her in death.
On January 9, 1943 she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Fred Conway, Sr. who preceded her in death on December 7, 2001.
Mrs. Conway worked in private homes as a Domestic; she was a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where she was on the Mother’s Board and the kitchen committee. She was also a former member of the Busy Bee Club. She was the grandmother to every child in the neighborhood the oldest resident of Greenfield Heights Community.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory a son; Fred Conway, Jr. (Anita) of Dayton, Ohio: a daughter; Annie J. Townsend (Richard) of Toledo, OH; Four grandchildren; Geraldine Pegues, (Kendall), Cheryl Jones (Jeffery), Aleckia Town-send and Richard Townsend, Jr. Four great-grandchildren; a sister; Lizzie Carter of Louisville, KY: two brothers; Charles Carter of Tuscumbia, AL and Benjamin Carter of Lima, OH. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by four brothers; John Carter, Wallace Carter, George Carter and and a two sister; Ruth and Ruby Carter.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday, April 12, 2014, 10-11:00, Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, AL. Graveside service for Mrs. Conway will be 12:00 Noon, Saturday, April 12, 2014 in Jones Cemetery, Town Creek, AL., Rev. Bryce Lipscomb, officiating
