Dixie Marie Tidwell, 74, passed away at her Rogersville home March 21, 2014. Her family received friends Saturday, March 22, from 6-8 p.m., and a celebration of her life will be Sunday, March 23, at 2 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home, with Dr. Charles Gattis officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Grandsons and granddaughters will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Tidwell’s parents, Rev. Lowell and Eddie Springer, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Walter “Buck” Tidwell; children, Ray (Linda) Tidwell, Donna (Ralph) Nix, Jerry (Kathy) Tidwell, Terry Tidwell and Barry (Deanna) Tidwell; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and brother, David (Linda) Springer.
Dixie was a member of First Baptist Church Rogersville, having taught women’s Sunday School and leading various Christian youth groups. She retired from the Lauderdale County School System after 23 years at LCHS. Dixie’s greatest accomplishment in life was her family, from ballparks to churches to shopping with “her girls,” it was always family first.
