Natalie Emery Dalstrom, 101, of Town Creek, died peacefully in her home surrounded by family and loving caregivers on March 16, 2014. Natalie was born in Springfield, Mass., to Bertha and Arthur L. Emery. She grew up in Charlotte, N.C., and attended Queens College and graduated from the University of Tennessee. She was married to Edwin Dalstrom for 67 years.
Natalie lived in Decatur for 16 years before she and her husband retired on Wheeler Lake.
Natalie was a former member of the Brookmead Garden Club, an honorary member of the Decatur Culture Club, and a member of the Agape Bible Study group at Westminster Presbyterian Church. She dedicated her life to helping others and volunteered for 10 years at the Lurleen Wallace Center. She had special interest in helping children with special needs and was instrumental in starting a special needs Sunday school class at Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was also a participant in the F.A.C.E.S. program. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for 54 years.
She is remembered by all for her strength, compassion and dedication to family.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church of Decatur with Reverend Jeff Parker officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin F. Dalstrom and sister, Millicent Emery Stair.
She is survived by sons, Bruce Emery Dalstrom (Maria), Peter Edwin Dalstrom, Timothy Good Dalstrom (Mickey); daughters, Ann Dalstrom Westall (Rod), Martha Dalstrom Smith (Thomas); grandchildren, Mark Dalstrom, Scott Dalstrom (Lorraine), Aaron E. Westall, Kacey Westall Keogh (Kevin), Matthew Dalstrom (Kitty), Taylor Dalstrom, Asa T. Smith, Bailey Smith Holmes (Travis), Zachary E. Smith, Alex D. Smith, Rachel E. Smith and four great-grandchildren.
