John Ira Blackburn, II, went to be with our Lord on January 12, 2014.
He was born March 23, 1957 in Casablanca, Morocco, son of Irene Mulberry and Worth Blackburn. He attended Bolivar Central High School in Bolivar, Tenn.
John joined the U. S. Air Force and served at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas He worked many years as a fork lift driver in both Alabama and Tennessee.
He was a member of Whiteville Baptist Church in Whiteville, Tenn. John is survived by his sister, Carol (Jeff) Campbell of Memphis, Tenn.; uncle, James (Vivian) Blackburn of Lexington, Ky.; aunt, Margaret Haden of Lexington, Ky.; aunt, Nancy Wyman of Gahanna, Ohio and sister-in-law, Marilyn Blackburn of Springfield, Ohio. Other survivors include nieces and nephews, Brett (Margie) Blackburn of Springfield, Ohio; Denise (Jefferson) Blackburn-Smith of Columbus, Ohio; Heather (Jamie) Heath of Meadowbrook, Ala; Matthew (Stephanie) Galliano of Florence, Ala; Hannah Campbell of Marysville, Ohio; Joseph Campbell of Memphis, Tenn. and several great-nieces and great-nephews and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Martha Galliano; a brother, David Blackburn, and a nephew, David Arnes.
John’s memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home in Versailles, Ky. Rev. George Haden, Jr. will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Versailles Cemetery, Versailles, Ky.
