Gordon L. Toney of Lawrenceburg, TN was born April 18, 1937 in Brownsboro, AL the son of the late Hessey Bruce and Viola Mae Jenkins Toney. Mr. Toney died Saturday morning, March 15, 2014 at his home near Henryville at the age of 76 Years, 10 Months, 25 Days. He enlisted in the U.S. Army June 15, 1960 and was discharged May 25, 1962. He was retired from Murray Ohio Manufacturing and attended Liberty Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He was married to Dorothy Stricklin August 4, 1962.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Stricklin Toney of Lawrenceburg, TN,
a daughter, Kathy McGuinness and husband Patrick of Columbia, TN, a brother, James Toney of Newport, AR, two sisters, Cora Steen of Tuscumbia, AL, Ada Ruth Holley of Memphis, TN, several nieces and nephews
Services will be held Monday, March 17, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Collinwood with Gary Crosby and James Toney officiating. Burial will follow in the White’s Creek Cemetery in Hardin County with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
