Home Invasion In Dekalb County Results in Two injured

Dekalb County Sheriffs CarDEKALB COUNTY-Press Release from The Dekalb County Sheriff’s Department regarding a home invasion call received on March 12, 2014.  The home owner sustained a head injury while the intruder was shot in the leg.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:

Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports a shooting on County Road 1966 in the Whiton area. Randy Hill, 60 of Albertville was at his sons’ residence when he heard a knock at the door, when he went to the front door there was a white male that he didn’t know standing in the house. Mr. Hill asked the suspect what he was doing and what he needed, the suspect said that he was looking for Mr. Hill’s son. Mr. Hill told the suspect that his son was at work and asked if he could help him. The suspect said I am here to whoop your son. Mr. Hill continued to talk to the suspect. The suspect picked up a flash light and hit Mr. Hill in the face and on the head. Mr. Hill fought with the suspect and was able to get a shot-gun that was in the residence, Mr. Hill shot the suspect in the leg. The suspect took his belt off and tried to stop the bleeding. Geraldine Police Department arrived on the scene and assisted the suspect on trying to stop the bleeding. The suspect was transported to Marshall medical south and then air lifted to Huntsville Hospital. We later identified the suspect as Tony Kitchens, 60 of Albertville. At this time no charges have been filed. The investigation is still on going. District Attorney Mike Odell or the Grand Jury will make a decision on charges if any will be filed.
