Mr. Hayman Lee Humes, age 69 of Saulsbury, Tennessee passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at Bolivar General Hospital. A memorial service that will take place at Shackelford Funeral Directors’ Middleton Chapel will be scheduled at a later date. Information will be updated as soon as it becomes available.
Mr. Humes was born in Memphis, Tennessee July 26, 1944 to the late Earl Hayman Humes and Euna Lee Hudson Humes. He lived most of his life in the Memphis/Bartlett area prior to moving to Hardeman County 12 years ago. On September 26, 2001, he was united in marriage to his wife, Barbara, who survives. He was a pilot for a riverboat company and a truck driver for several different companies. As a hobby, he drove sprint cars and was an avid sports fan. His favorite team was the Atlanta Braves. He served as the President of the Candlewood Lakes Property Owners Association and was a member of the Rocky Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Amber Cork (Carlos) of Memphis, Heather Humes of Texas, and Angel Smith (Jeremy) of Memphis; a stepson, John Rupprecht of Saulsbury; three stepdaughters, Jennifer Collomp (Jeff) of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Jeana Reeves (Steve) of Williston, and Kelly Watson of Henderson; a brother, Earl Humes (Phyllis) of Florida; a sister, Patsy Kirkley (Jim) of Oklahoma; and eleven grandchildren, including Rebecca Lane Rupprecht, whom he raised for five years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Clint Humes.
