sleet rain snow– A traveler advisory is in effect for the Natchez Trace Parkway from mile post (mp) 266 (Mississippi) north.

There have been several reports of icy conditions on the bridges, roadways, and county roads leading to the Parkway from Tupelo, MS (mp 266) to Nashville, TN (mp 442).  A wintry mix, including patchy freezing drizzle and light snowfall, is possible in these areas area through the mid-morning hours, and wet road conditions could lead to additional patchy ice formation.  Bridges and overpasses will be even more susceptible to icing.  Some of this icing may form as a thin coating of glazed ice known as black ice, which is virtually transparent.  These conditions are expected to last throughout today and possibly into the night. Travelers are cautioned to watch for these patches, especially in shaded areas of the Parkway. Several downed trees have been reported from mp 416 to Leiper’s Fork at mp 430 which could also cause delays.
