Phyllis Ann Watson passed away peacefully at home on Mar. 1st, after an extended illness. Phyllis was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived the majority of her life in Huntsville. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Harold Watson; her beloved son-in-law, Dale Thomas; brother, Richard Pardue; mother, Mary Johnson and father, Roby Pardue.
Harold and Phyllis were long-time members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3263 in Huntsville. She served in numerous positions, including State President for the Women’s Auxiliary. During their early retirement years, they enjoyed traveling to many state and national conventions.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Johnson, Mary Jo Holland (Bob), Debbie Thomas; sons, Mike Watson and Steve Watson; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Vera Wheeler of Dayton, Ohio and Kathy Dabbs and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was an active member of Huntsville Christian Church, in Madison, before she became ill.
She will always be remembered for her sweet and loving spirit, dry sense of humor (even on her worst days, she would make those around her smile), and the way she always was ready to defend and take up for the underdogs that crossed her path.
The family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers at Cedar Springs and Riverside in Decatur, AL for making her last years more comfortable and pleasant. Caregivers in both places told us Mom was one of their favorites. In her own words she said to thank them and God bless them.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Mar. 3rd, at Valhalla Funeral Home. Celebration of her life will be 11:00 AM on Mar. 4th at Valhalla, with Interment following in Valhalla Memory Garden.
