Frances Augusta Woods Briggs, 88, of Florence, passed away February 16, 2014 at Glenwood Nursing Home. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, Sunday School Teacher, and choir member. She retired as manager of Zales Jewelry after 44 years of service.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 11 – 1 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Kenny Baskins and the Rev. Jim Warren officiating. Burial will follow in Tri Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Briggs was preceded in death by her husband, John Wallace Briggs; parents, Johnnie and Mattie Woods; brothers, Robert, Homer, Charles “Peck”, and J.B. Woods; sisters, Eunice Baskins, Virginia Patterson, and Ruby Mae Young.
She is survived by her son, Wendell Wallace Briggs (Belinda); brothers, James Woods (Joan) all of Florence, Eugene Woods of Mishawaka, IN; sisters, Lois Eaton, Betty Stanfield both of Florence; grandchildren, Melissa Briggs Singh (Ravi) of Washington, D.C., Valerie Baker (Eric) of Bristow, VA, Bert Briggs (Alicia) of Blountsville, AL; great-grandchildren, Stella Singh, Maddie & Marin Baker, Kathryn, Weston, Martin, and Lauryn Briggs.
Active pallbearers will be Bert Briggs, Eric Baker, Ravi Singh, Scott Stanfield, Steve Stanfield, Charles Young, and Bobby Woods.
Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Central Baptist Church.
A special thanks to Merrill Gardens, Green Oaks, and Glenwood Health Care for their excellent care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church.
