Chocolate Walk, Tech Open House, Pageant/Ugly Walk…Athens Has It All

ATHENS FEATUREDATHENS-Spend Saturday in Athens and learn about educational opportunities, eat chocolate while shopping and see a pageant that ends with guys in dresses.

The Limestone County Career Technical Center is having an Open House Saturday, Feb. 8, from 9 to 11 a.m. Skills USA, one of the Career Tech student organizations, will also conduct its local competitions during this time. This is an opportunity to learn more about the programs offered. The school is located at 505 E. Sanderfer Road.


 

chocolate walkThe Spirit of Athens second annual Chocolate Walk will be Saturday, Feb. 8, from noon to 5 p.m. on The Square. Tickets are $10 and are selling fast. Participating merchants will offer sweet deals and chocolate treats. Those who visit each participant will be entered in a drawing to win one of five $25 Love Bucks that can be spent at a participating business. The Jessica Elkins Memorial Pageant and Ugly Walk will be Saturday, Feb. 8, at 5 p.m., Athens Middle School auditorium, 601 S. Clinton St.  Proceeds benefit the Jessica Elkins Memorial Scholarship Fund for Athens High School. Registration is Friday, Feb. 7, 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 8, from 2-3:30 p.m. Fee is $50 per entry and $10 each for the photogenic category or three entries for $25 for photogenic.
