FLORENCE – By the time the called session of the Florence/Lauderdale Tourism Board was over, everybody in the room seemed at once, glad the meeting was over, and glad that they had decided to go along with Mayor Micky Haddock’s plans. Sounds confusing.

It took two votes, but the Board agreed to accept the plan to become included under the City of Florence’s governmental structure. A primary reason was the ability to limit its liability exposure under the City’s immunity cloak.

But the meeting was not without some controversy. Board Member Ernest Haygood detailed a litany of perceived issues with the move. He also couched his rhetoric in the direction of some not-too-kosher political moves on the part of haddock and some members of the City Council.

The video is long, and is unedited. This should give viewers a good idea of what frustrations abounded at Wednesday’s meeting. Note: The Board had one short item of business to deal with first. The main part of the meeting begins about 5-minutes in.

Pretty obvious that Nelson and Abramson have strick orders as to what they are sent there to do. Its like good vs evil and evil won out in this vote.
