Joseph Edward Wilbanks – Obituary

Joseph Edward Wilbanks, age 91, of Sheffield, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014.

His family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, noon-2 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. His funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David Lee officiating. Burial will be in Rogersville Civitan Cemetery, Rogersville, Ala.

Mr. Wilbanks was a native of Limestone County, was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater, was retired from TVA, and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Tuscumbia. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward and Joseph Ethelda Wilbanks, four brothers, and one sister.

He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Addie Margaret Blair Wilbanks; son, Don Wilbanks (Brenda); daughter, Jo Wilbanks Finch (Johnny); grandchildren, Matthew Wilbanks (Emily), Shannon Athey (Clay), and Michael Wilbanks (Erin); and great-grandchildren, Madilyn Wilbanks, Rachel Wilbanks, Steven Wilbanks, and Megan Athey.

The family expresses special thanks to all his caregivers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Tuscumbia.
