Jack Powell Bobo Sr., age 89, of Florence, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014. Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 25, from noon-2 p.m. with services to follow at 2 p.m. at Greenview Memorial Chapel, with Frank Mills officiating.
Mr. Bobo was a World War II veteran serving in the Navy V5 program. Jack was a salesman throughout his life and career for Florence Packing House and retired in 1989 from Paper and Chemical Supply. Upon retirement, he served his family, created works of wood for his children and grandchildren, and played his beloved game of golf even up until this past spring. He was a member of Cross Point Church of Christ.
Mr. Bobo was preceded in death by wives, Johnnie Hudson Bobo in 1993, and Anita South Bobo in 2012; parents, Charles and Mamie Murphy Bobo; and sisters, Helen Thaxton, Mary Louise Jones, and William (Bud) Bobo.
Survivors include son, Jack P Bobo Jr. (Betty); daughter, Betty K. Bobo; and stepson, Scotty South (Diane), all of Florence; grandchildren, Rachel Faulkner Brown (Rod), of Atlanta, Ga., and Rebecca Bertetti (Rick), of New York, N.Y.; stepgrandchildren, John South (Karen) and Jared South (Cathy), of Florence, Jeff South (Jamie), of Russellville, and Jason South (Gina), of Montgomery; great-grandchildren, Davis Faulkner and Campbell Faulkner, of Atlanta, Ga., and Piper Bertetti, of New York, N.Y.; ten stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great- grandchild; brother, A.C. Bobo, Auburntown, Tenn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Rod Brown, Rick Bertetti, and Jeff, John, Jason, and Jared South.
Honorary pallbearers will be golfing friends, Linville Hanback, John Holmes, David Westmoreland, Dick Harrison and the shepherds of Cross Point Church of Christ.
