Jessie Pruitt Bevis, age 89, of Florence, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014. Visitation will be today from noon until 2p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Ronald Olle officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Bevis was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Mary Pruitt; husband, Bertis L. Bevis Sr.; son, Bertis Bevis Jr.; and siblings, Doris Davis, Lady Ruth Haygood, Kenneth Pruitt, and T. A. Pruitt.
Survivors include her daughter, Julia “Judy” Melvin and husband, Bob; daughter-in-law, Monica Bevis; brother, Robert “Bobby” Pruitt and wife, Nell; and grandchildren, Jessica Brink and husband, Michael, and Bertis Bevis III.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2414 Old Cloverdale Road, Florence, AL 35630.
