Wayne Riley, 80, passed away during the early morning hours of Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at his home in Killen, Ala., after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. His body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 25, at Center Star First Baptist Church at 11 a.m.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Dunlap Riley; his parents, Everett Lester “Red” Riley and Nancy Riley; and his brother, William “Bill” Riley.
He is survived by his brother, E.L. (Christine); sister-in-law, Betty Riley; brothers-in-law, James Dunlap (Jan), Don Dunlap (Nancy), and Kenneth Dunlap (Barbara); and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friend and cohort in all of his “hobbies” at home, Chad Bowling and wife, Tammy. He will be missed by his constant companion at home, Silky.
Wayne loved the Lord, his family, his church family at Center Star First Baptist Church, fishing, whittling and woodworking, horses, eating breakfast at Cracker Barrel, all western movies and Alabama football.
The family would like to thank all of the kind nurses, aides and sitters that took care of him and brought joy into his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Center Star First Baptist Church or the Salvation Army in Florence.
