Judy Ann Phelps Thompson passed away Dec. 21, 2013, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born March 23, 1943.
Survivors include her daughter, Chris Hamilton, and husband, Barry, of Athens, Ala.; granddaughter, Bess Hamilton, of Athens, Ala.; brothers, Barton Phelps, of Knoxville, Tenn., Frank Phelps, of Okatha, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Thompson; parents, Issac Clayton and Agnes Pauline Phelps; brothers, Bill, James Martin, Tommy, Stevie and Gene Phelps.
After living 30 years in Florence, Mrs. Thompson relocated to Athens in 2003 after the death of her husband. She was a member of West Highland Baptist Church and cherished the friendships she formed from among that congregation. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Enoe, Dr. Noel, Dr. Boyer and all the nurses and staff at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 23, from 1-2 p.m., at Greenhill Funeral Home, with the funeral service immediately following in the chapel with Pastor Jerry Smith of West Highland Baptist Church of Athens officiating.
