Mildred Harmon Yeilding – Obituary

Mildred Harmon Yeilding, formerly of Florence, AL, went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 19, 2013. She was born October 22, 1921, in Birmingham, AL.
Survivors include Mrs. Yeilding’s loving husband of 72 years, Jefferson M. Yeilding, as well as three daughters, Phyllis Yeilding of Cameron Park, CA, Diane Hyde (Doug) of Pelham, AL, and Jill Lacalle (Dennis) of Shingle Springs, CA. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Teresa Karnow of Shingle Springs, CA, Shelley Madueme of Flintstone, GA, Christy Cummins of Cameron Park, CA, Steven Hyde of Thousand Oaks, CA, Melissa Haley of Hoover, AL, Jeffrey Lacalle of Pollock Pines, CA, and Joey Lacalle of Cameron Park, CA. In addition, Mrs. Yeilding’s legacy includes 10 adored great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Yeilding lived in California for 50 years where she and her husband raised their family. There, she actively served God in many ways, including Church Secretary, Sunday School Superintendent, and hosting Bible studies. She also spent time there working in the aerospace and defense industries. Mrs. Yeilding truly demonstrated a servant’s heart in her family, her church, and her community. She returned in 1996 with her husband to their native home of Alabama, living in Florence for 10 years before returning to Birmingham.
Mrs. Yeilding was predeceased by her infant son, Patrick Hughes Yeilding; father, John Porter Harmon; mother, May James Harmon; brothers, Cecil Harmon, James Harmon, and Allen Harmon; and sister, Bertha Harmon.
The family will greet friends one hour before the 11 a.m. funeral on Monday, December 23, 2013, at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Birmingham.
Mrs. Yeilding will be deeply missed by the family and friends she leaves behind.
