Mrs. Louise Kretzer Wilson, age 90, of Killen, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013.
Visitation for family and friends will begin on Friday at 12:00 p.m. at the Killen Church of Christ. The service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Stan Dean, Charles Kretzer and Danny Pettus officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death in 2007 by her husband Mailon Wilson. She grew up in Lauderdale County, the fourth of eight children born to Fred and Edna Kretzer. Siblings preceding her in death were Bill Kretzer of Lodi, CA, Gilbert Kretzer and Evalene Pettus of Lauderdale County and Royce Kretzer of Murfreesboro, TN.
Lovingly referred to as “Nanny”, she was a devoted and caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Her son Don says of her, “My mother’s heart was so hidden in God that you had to seek Him just to find her. She led a very simple life, not cluttered by the cares of the world, yet her life was so full. She was never in the ‘spotlight’ but she was known and loved by so many. She gave the ‘gift of a caring and beautiful smile’ to everyone she met.”
“Mom was content to cook, clean, and garden but her favorite thing was to help others. My mom was the faithful caregiver for my dad as he fought multiple myeloma (cancer) for 21 years. During that time she never faltered, not once. I never heard my mother complain or say anything bad about anyone, to the contrary, she would only see the good in others and encourage them. I was blessed with the best mother any son could ever have.”
“Proverbs 31:10-31 describes my mother very well. Verse 31 reads, ‘Give her everything she deserves! Festoon her life with praise!’ As her family, we will strive to live lives like ‘Nanny’ to honor her life and find a Godly heart like this Godly woman. We rejoice in the fact this special angel of God has joined the Heavenly Host.”
