Cecil Gearil Smith, 72, of Ardmore, Alabama passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama.
Born Wednesday, March 12, 1941 in Ardmore, Alabama he was the son of the late Cecil Milton Smith and the late Elsie Bailey Smith.
He was a life long resident of the Ardmore Community and was a member of Ardmore First Baptist Church. He was a long time community servant and worked with the Ardmore Fire Department for over fifty years and served as chief a majority of that time. He enjoyed cattle farming.
Surviving are wife: Nellie Faye Hogan Smith, Ardmore, AL; son; Tim (Cathy) Smith of Ardmore, AL, daughter; Kim (Butch) Sutton of Ardmore, TN, sister; Shirley Phillips of Ardmore, AL.grandchildren; Kristen (Neal) Gatlin and Kyle Smith; three great grandchildren; Peyton, Preston, Ann Marie Gatlin.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Alan Hughes, Bro. Chris Bolt, and Mike Davis officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Monday, December 16, 2013, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in Ardmore, Alabama.
