THE SHOALS-Along with the soundtrack from the movie documentary “Muscle Shoals”, The Alabama Shakes and the The Civil Wars have been nominated for awards, which will be presented in January during the award ceremony and which will be broadcast live.
The Alabama Shakes which hail from Athens have been nominated for Best Rock Performance with their “Always Alright.” The Civil Wars are nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance with “From This Valley.” John Paul White, from Florence is half of the duo. His singing and performing partner is Joy Williams who lives in Nashville. As reported last night the much-loved and critically acclaimed documentary telling the story of Rick Hall, FAME and the wonderful music from The Shoals, which includes the world famous Swampers of “Sweet Home Alabama” is nominated for the Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media category.
