Vera May Nix Scott, age 87, of Alpharetta, Ga., formerly of Florence, passed away Monday, Nov. 18, 2013. Visitation will be today from 2-3:30 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Shawn Smith officiating. Burial will be at Killen Cemetery.
Ms. Scott was a member of East Florence Church of Christ. She had a protective love of her family.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Granda Shriver.
Survivors include daughters, Ginger Bretherick (Bobby), of Florence, and Tula Bading, of Alpharetta, Ga.; sisters, Jean Kelly, Muscle Shoals, and Betty Jo Pickens, Florence; seven grandchildren; and numerous loving great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Safeplace or The Salvation Army.
