Penelope “Penny” Pinkston Trammell died Sunday, November 17, 2013, at her home. She was born in Decatur on December 16, 1942. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Albert Pinkston and Nancy Worth Jones Hiserodt. She is survived by her husband, Dale E. Trammell; son, Dale E. Trammell Jr. (Patra) of Birmingham; and her sisters, Rebecca Caddell (Tom) of Decatur and Worth Fischer (Sam) of Birmingham.
Penny attended the University of Alabama and received from Auburn University B.S. and M.S. degrees in mathematics, and minored in art and geology. She taught at Auburn University and the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Penny was an avid gardener and loved sharing plants with friends and family. She adored her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and enjoyed attending their numerous activities.
Visitation will be from 2:30 until 4 p.m. Wednesday, November 20th, at Carnegie Visual Arts Center, 207 Church Street NE, Decatur, AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the ALS Foundation or Hospice of the Valley.
