Brandi Ann Elizabeth Bates, age 20, of Muscle Shoals, died Saturday, November 9, 2013. Her family will receive friends Tuesday, 6-9 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will be Wednesday, 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Tuscumbia with Darrell Pace officiating. Burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Brandi was a 2012 graduate of Muscle Shoals High School, where she received a Certificate of Excellence for the most promising student of the year in cosmetology. She won a silver medal as a participant in community service at the 2012 Skills USA Alabama Skills and Leadership Conference. She attended Northwest Shoals Community College and Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Stephen Bates, great grandmother, Julia Waldrep, aunt, Millie Bates, grandparents, Thomas and Rebecca Bates and friend, Anthony Hankins.
She survived by her mother, Sonya Wilson Bates, brother, Hunter Bates, grandparents, William L. and Charlotte (Nana) Seltzer; uncles and aunts, Dickie and Jeanette Todd, Buddy and Gail Waldrep, Mona Mackey, Dionne Seltzer Simmons; cousins, Darrell Todd, Tyler Denton, Alyssa Simmons, Natalie Bates, Ashley Moss, Coco Moss, and a host of special friends that Brandi loved as family, Brandi Baldwin, little Landon, Haley Smith, Devon Waldrep, Samantha Higgins, Devon Spires, Jay Baby Stanley (the little boy that she took care of and dearly loved), Montana Hamm, Nana Stella and Papa Ed.
Pallbearers are Tyler Denton, Hunter Bates, Devon Waldrep, Ridge Watkins, Jake Mackey, Pooky Hollins, Devon Spires and Drew Hovater.
