Rebecca Ann “Becky” Snider Smith was born on January 13, 1945, as the oldest of six children. She graduated Russellville High School in 1963 and started her nursing career at Burns Nursing Home and Russellville Hospital as a LPN (or as she called it, a Low Paid Nut). She loved her family, friends, fishing, Auburn football, and a large margarita. She had a quick wit, a huge heart, and always a helping hand. If you ever needed anything, she would go out of her way to help. She was a great cook and often used her kitchen table as a way to keep her family together.
She was met at the gates of Heaven on Monday, September 02, 2013 by her husband, Thomas Smith; daughter, Rosliand Smith; brother, Harold Snider; sister, Judy Snider Goddard; and parents, Elton & Margene Snider.
She is survived by her daughter, Terisa Hicks Raney (husband, David) of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Merisa Hicks of Tuscumbia, AL and Audra Hicks of Dallas, TX; brothers, Robert Snider (wife, Pat) of Cumming, GA, Billy Joe Snider (wife, Donna) of Knoxville, TN; sister, Julia Snider Malone of Cumming, GA; sister-in-law, Brenda Harbin of Red Bay, AL; brother-in-law, Ricky Goddard (wife, Judy); several nieces, nephews; and additional family and friends.
The visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Saturday, September 07, 2013 at Spry Memorial Chapel, Russellville, AL. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 08, 2013 at Spry Memorial Chapel. Officiating at the service will be Bro. Jim McDaniel. Burial will be at Cherry Hill Cemetery, Russellville.
The pallbearers will be Anthony McBrayer, Gregg McBrayer, Mike Pennington, Jesse Snider, Don Hicks, Cody Bailey, and Cam DeArman.
