Funeral service for Gleen Harold Lowery, 80, of Athens will be Thursday, August 29, 2013, at 7 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Jeff Smith and Steve Cline officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Lowery, who died Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at his residence, was born April 24, 1933, in Limestone County to George and Bertha Lowery. He was a member of Eastside Church of Christ in Athens. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard and was retired from Lynn Layton Chevrolet in Decatur.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ann Ozell Taylor Lowery; one daughter, Pamela Edney of Decatur; one son, Dr. Tracy Lowery and his wife, April, of Huntsville; grandchildren, Shellee Blaxton, Clint Barley, Adam Lowery, Sara Lowery, Kathryn Lowery, Brady Lowery and Bailey Lowery; great-grandchildren, Braxton Barley, Davis Barley, Brooks Blaxton, John Allen Blaxton, Brooklyn Barley and Emmy Lowery; brother-in-law, Elton Abernathy of Athens; and special caregiver, Rosa Bozart.
