David “Coach” Murphy, 70, of Underwood, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2013. The memorial service for David will be at 2 p.m. today at his home.
David was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and a member of the Pipefitters Local #760 of Muscle Shoals. He was retired from T.V.A. where he worked as a pipefitter for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Lula Murphy; four sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Kay Murphy; son, Jason Murphy; brothers, Gerald and Charles Murphy; nieces, Connie Norton, Kim Vickery, and Kayleigh Vickery and several more nieces, nephews and friends.
The family expresses special thanks to the nursing staffs of Palliative Care Unit of ECM, especially, Ashley, Mitchell Hollinsworth Rehabilitation, Amedysis Hospice and Hospice of Tennessee Valley, and to Drs. Felix Morris, Hemant Patel, Karl Hagler, James Daugherty and Lyman Mitchell, Jr.
