Lois J. Smith age 86 of Athens, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Valley View Nursing Home in Madison. Mrs. Smith was born October 12, 1926 to Edward Murphy Jackson and Bessie Elizabeth Boger Jackson.
Graveside services will be Friday, August 9, 2013 2:00 p.m., at Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur with Don Osborne officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Ephesus Church of Christ.
Preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Bessie Jackson; three brothers, Bill Palmer, Clifford Palmer and Gurney Jackson; three sisters, Alsie Ellis, Lavern Black and Lorene Gilliland.
Survived by her husband, John William Smith of Athens; daughter, Connie Crafts and husband Roger of Athens; two grandchildren, Mary Beth Toone and husband, Shawn, and Will Crafts and wife, Amy both of Athens; great-grandchildren, Ryder Toone, Annsley Toone and John Wyatt Toone; sister, Eloise Mizell of Moulton; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Toone, Will Crafts, Blake Ferguson, Zeb Ferguson, Gerald Crafts, Gary Gilliland, Zack Brock and Ervin Palmer. Honorary pallbearer will be Ryder Toone.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Athens Limestone Hospital Foundation.
