Woman whose body was found at Florence hotel identified – Cause: Homicide

FLORENCE – Police investigating the cause of the death of a woman whose body was found under a bed at a Court Street hotel are operating on the theory that the death was a homicide. The investigation solidified after forensics tests in Huntsville indicated foul play.
The victim’s name was released this afternoon. The death happened at City Lodge Hotel, Room 317. The body was not found for about 3 days.
Here is the text of the police news release: “On Monday July 29th, Florence Police Officers responded to a reported deceased person at 400 S. Court Street, Florence (City Lodge). Investigators confirmed that a black female was deceased and our department began investigating this case as a suspicious death. The body of the deceased was transported to the state forensics lab and an autopsy was conducted this morning. Preliminary results show that this death is not as a result of natural causes.Investigators with the Florence Police Department are continuing to investigate this case and now have reason to suspect foul play. As such, this case is now classified as a Homicide. The victim has been identified as Lula Teresa Addison, 54, of Florence.

Due to the nature of this case no further information is being released at this time. Anyone who may have been in the area of City Lodge between Wednesday, July 24, and Monday, July 29, 2013 and may have information related to the case is asked to contact the Florence Police Department at 256-768-2764 or Crime Stoppers.
