RobertRobert F. Turpin, 76, of Tuscumbia, died Friday, July 26, 2013. His visitation will be today from 2 to 3 p.m. today at Colbert Memorial Chapel in Tuscumbia. His funeral will follow in the chapel at 3 p.m. Burial will be at Colbert Memorial Gardens. Bro. Ed White is officiating.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Bonnie Turpin; son, Dallas Turpin (Kelly); daughter, Misty McCrealess (Rodney); brother Jerry Turpin; sisters, Chris Bramstedt, JoAnn Strout, and Mary Turpin; grandchildren, Duck McCrealess, Cody James (Nichole), Dakota McCrealess, Savanna McCrealess, Tory Turpin, and Lanny Turpin; great-grandchildren, Zayden James, and coming soon, Kyndra James.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Gladys Turpin.
Mr. Turpin loved blue grass music and played it often at various events and nursing homes. He served eight years in the Navy as an electrician and airplane mechanic. He received a bachelor of science degree. He served in the Philippines with the Heavy Attack Squadron Two aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard. He was a loving husband, father and pawpaw. He loved traveling out west and camping with his friends, Jim and Carol, and family. Pallbearers include Cody James, Dakota McCrealess, Duck McCrealess, Roy Burcham, Lazarius Decatur and Leonard Caldwell.
Honorary pallbearer will be Rodney McCrealess, because he loved him like a father.
Colbert Memorial Chapel in Tuscumbia is directing.
