Charles (Charley) Carter passed from this Earth on July 25, 2013, at 8:44 am at the Limestone Health Facility to be with his Heavenly Father. Mr Carter was born to James Allen and Myrtle Carter on January 1, 1932, in Limestone County. Mr. Carter was joined on his final journey by his Beloved Wife, Troy Mae Carter.
The visitation will be from 6-9 pm on Sunday, July 28 to follow with a funeral at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 29, at Limestone Chapel. Burial will be at Sunny Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Carter is survived by his daughter, Jill Holland and husband Wayne of Athens; grandchildren, Sandi Roberts and husband Chris Smith, Amy Chittam, Lyle Holland and wife, Linda and John Holland and wife Christy; and great-grandchildren, Carly Roberts, Logan Roberts, Hannah Holland, Maggie Holland, Jack Holland and Bennett Holland. One sister, Irene Gregory of Carthage, TN and one brother, Henry Carter and wife Paulette of Athens, AL. Numerous Beloved Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Fred Carter, Wesley Carter and Roy Carter and two sisters: Erlene Carwile and Lorene Moran.
He was a longtime member of Sunny Hill Church of Christ where for 40+ years he served the Lord in a way that he dearly loved by leading the congregation in song. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years during the Korean War. After 27 years, he retired from Eaton Corporation.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Crouch, Alton Moran, Roy Carter, Jr., Richie Carter, Steve Carter and Ray Carwile, all Beloved Nephews of the deceased. Honorary Pallbearer is Logan Roberts, Great-Grandson to his Beloved Papa Charley. Kasey Harbin and Henry Carter will Conduct the Services for Mr. Carter.
