Johnnie Frank Dickerson, 70, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Gulfport Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, MS. He was of the Church of Christ Faith, and was a retired Senior Master Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force. While he was in the Air Force, he was a recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. After his retirement, he worked for the U. S. Postal Service. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, and going to the horse track. He also enjoyed telling jokes, finding great places to eat, and working crossword puzzles. Visitation is scheduled for 5 until 8 PM on Saturday, July 27 at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Liberty Church of Christ in Michie, TN. It will be officiated by Malcolm George. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to service time. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jake Whitehurst, Sidney Whitehurst, Jr., Ronnie Mills, Harold Monjeau, Charlie Moore, and Lee Finonson. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his sister – Jo Ann Dickerson of Nashville, TN; 2 nephews – Stanley Whitehurst (Janet) of Killen, AL and Sidney Whitehurst, Sr. (Terrie) of Iuka, MS; 1 niece – Jada Ann Arkovitz of Nashville, TN; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vera and Wade Dickerson; his brother, Robert Oneal Dickerson; and his sister, Virginia Whitehurst.
