Evelyn Joyce Freeman Lolley, of Guin, Alabama, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 1, 2026. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Joyce was a woman of remarkable character whose devotion to her Lord and her family was well known to those who knew her.
Born in Kosciusko, Mississippi to Richard and Ruby Moss Freeman, Joyce grew up in Kosciusko, Mississippi and Marion County Alabama. She met the love of her life, Heyward Lolley, through her best friend, Betty Lolley Lynn (Heyward’s sister). They married on September 3, 1955 and shared a loving marriage centered on family, hard work, and mutual devotion.
Heyward and Joyce made their home in Birmingham, Alabama, for seven years, where they welcomed their daughters, Deborah and Pam. The family later moved back to Guin and had their third child, Steve. Joyce retired after a 20+ year career in the textile industry. Joyce’s greatest joy was her family. An extraordinary mother and grandmother, she was always there for her children, offering wise advice, encouragement, and unconditional love. They knew they could turn to her whenever they needed guidance or support. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and being close to them was one of the greatest blessings of her life. Her love of music has always been apparent through singing specials at church services, and always having gospel, country, and bluegrass playing at her house.
Joyce is survived by her daughters, Deborah Lolley Chaffin and late husband, Doug, Pamela Lolley Pollard (Steve) and her son, Steve Lolley (Sherrae); her grandchildren Kelley (Scott) Shirley, Jared (Amber) Chaffin, Kacie (Matt) Aston, Alana (Scott) Hawkins, Aaron (Meredith) Pollard, Natalie (Derick) Jones, and Hannah (Jairo) Mendez; her brother, Richard Freeman; and her sisters, Joyce-Faye Frazier Caraway and Brenda Page along with 13 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Heyward, and her sisters, Annette Gibson, Jannette Williams, and Jeweline Fuller.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, November 5 at Guin First Baptist Church. Friends are welcome at 1:00 with service starting at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your local Gideons International organization.
