Joyce Ann Mathis Holloway, 82, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, faith, hard work, and devotion to her family. She was a woman whose life was a blessing to so many, and whose kindness and caring spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on May 15, 1944, in Houston, Mississippi, Joyce was the daughter of the late Belvie and Willie Mathis. She was one of nine children and graduated from Algoma High School in 1962. She later married the love of her life, Bobby Rex Holloway, and together they built a life centered around family, faith, and hard work. They were blessed with four children, and Joyce poured her heart into being a loving wife, devoted mother, and precious grandmother.
Joyce was a woman who knew the value of a hard day’s work. Having retired from two places of employment, she was known for her dedication, determination, and tireless work ethic. Simply put, Joyce never knew how to quit. Whether she was working, caring for her family, or lending a helping hand, she gave everything she did her very best.
Above all, Joyce was a devoted believer in Jesus Christ. Her faith was not simply something she spoke about; it was something she lived each day. She had a heart for others and a special way of making everyone feel loved and welcome. To know Joyce was to love her. She never met a stranger, and if someone was in need, she was always willing to do whatever she could to help. Her generous heart, warm spirit, and unwavering faith were beautiful reflections of the life she lived.
One of Joyce’s greatest joys was her family. She treasured the special bond she shared with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her love was steady, her presence was comforting, and the memories she created will forever hold a special place in their hearts. Though her family will deeply miss her, they find comfort in knowing that her love and the lessons she taught will continue through the generations.
Joyce is survived by her daughters, Tina Swindle, Pam Sneed (Barry), Debbie Williams (Jim) and Terrena Norwood (Bruce); her grandchildren, Chris Duffle (Kayla), Tina Pace (Dennis), Rickey Swindle, Kyle Holloway (Tracey), A.J. Thompson (Kearsten), Bailey Holloway, Autumn Hale (Cory), Parker Dillard, and Hadley Holloway; her bonus granddaughter, Jacqueline Tate (Riley); 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Larry Mathis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Belvie and Willie Mathis; her beloved husband, Bobby Rex Holloway; her two sons, Timothy Rex Holloway and Brad Holloway; her son-in-law, Rickey Gene Swindle; and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc, with visitation on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 12 p.m. until the service. Burial will follow at Post Oak Cemetery.
Her grandsons will have the honor of serving as pallbearers.
