Shirley Janell Bryant, better known as Janell, 84, of Ardmore, Alabama passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
She was born on Saturday, October 17, 1942, in Ardmore, Alabama to the late Charlie Rufus Gates and the late Annie Mae Eckstein Gates.
Janell spent her whole life in Ardmore, Alabama where she was of the Baptist faith. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and tending to her flower bed, being a peacemaker and taking care of everyone she could, as well as making sure her yard was kept clean and stick-free.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Wayne Bryant, both of her parents, one brother, Charles W. Gates, and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Collins.
Janell is survived by one son, Bradley Wayne Bryant, one daughter, Charlotte (Greg) Darlene Hice, two brothers, Bobby Gates and Jesse “Tom” Gates, as well as three grandchildren: Dustin (Erin) Hice, Scott Hice, and Karla Hice.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 1st, 2026, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in Ardmore, Alabama from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A funeral service is scheduled for the following day, Monday, November 2nd, 2026, again at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, with service time beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Gatlin Cemetery.
