Richard Durbin, 75, of Decatur, AL passed away peacefully on October 24, 2026. He was born in Illinois on November 23, 1950 to Lawerance and Norma Durbin who preceded him in death, along with his brother, Larry Durbin

Richard was the best dad anyone could ask for. He was a kind, intelligent, funny, and lovable man who had a heart of gold and above all was the most giving spirit that touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He was a devoted prayer warrior. He graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force, where he completed two terms as an Electronic Warfare Officer and worked on B-52 aircraft. His love for his country ran deep, and after his military service, he continued his career as an aerospace engineer. Outside of his career, he enjoyed the things that brought him happiness, including his guns and shooting, airplanes, Alabama football, country music, a cold beer or a margarita, and spending time with his beloved cats, especially Bear. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a generous heart, and a way of making people feel loved and cared for.

His greatest legacy will not only be his service to his country or his accomplishments throughout his career, but the love he gave so freely, the faith he held so strongly, and the memories he created with the people who mattered most to him.

Left to always cherish his memory are his:

Wife-Tammy Durbin

Sons- Sean Smith and Ruben Castaneda

Daughters- Eneyda Espino and Norma Espino

Sisters- Diane Duclos and her children Dirk Duclos and Alyson Green

2 Grandkids- Leslie and Alex

No services are scheduled at this time.
