It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Jonathan Renae Reeves.

Jonathan, 67, departed this world to be at peace with our savior on October 2, 2026, He is preceeded in death by his father (John H. Reeves), his mother (Merlene Archer Reeves), and brothers (Steve & Stanley Reeves).

He is survived by his wife of 32 years Laquitta Terry Reeves, his sisters Jennifer Reeves Kilgore (Ed), and Kelly Reeves Clark (David). He is also survived by his sons, Jonathan D. Reeves (Lindsy), Jonah B. Reeves (Delia), & Jordan S. Reeves (Camry). Jonathan was the pawpaw to five wonderful grandkids, Liberty, Julian, Jayden, Jensen, & Chloe. He truly loved these precious children and they were the light of his life. He was also a beloved uncle to many nieces & nephews.

Jonathan spent over 20 yrs of dedicated service at the Courtland Paper Mill until the time of it’s closing. He was no stranger to hard work, would help anyone he could, and was a constant and unwavering provider for his family. His character and work ethic spoke tor itself.

Over the years Jonathan had many hobbies and interests that he shared with those he loved. Years ago when his children were young he enjoyed raising and training beagle dogs for rabbit hunting. Even though he enjoyed the hunt, more times than not he wouldn’t carry a firearm. He loved to just listen to his dogs as they chopped and bawled on a hot trail. He loved the chase just as much as they did.

Jonathan played a critical role in the development of many young ball players including his three sons. He was an outstanding coach who prided himself on teaching young men & women the fundamentals of baseball & softball. He coached multiple successful teams over multiple seasons. He touched the lives of many young people who will never forget the influence & impact that he had on their lives.

In recent years he was an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors and spending time in God’s creation. His favorite place in the world was Guntersville Lake. He spent many days there on the water, constantly searching for that next bite, Through this interest many fish were caught, many trips were taken, many memories were made, many laughs were shared, & much love was shown & given on the decks of his Ranger boat. He enjoyed a sunrise on the water as much as he enjoyed fresh hot coffee in his cup.
