GURLEY — Singing River Trail joined the Town of Gurley and community partners for a groundbreaking ceremony celebrating approximately one mile of new trail development in Gurley.
The project is supported by a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant and will help connect downtown Gurley with the community’s trail system, improving access between local destinations and creating new opportunities for walking, biking, and recreation.
This project represents an important investment in Gurley’s connectivity and quality of life. By creating stronger links between downtown and the surrounding community, the new trail will make it easier for residents and visitors to move between destinations while supporting outdoor recreation and community engagement. The project also advances Singing River Trail’s broader regional vision of connecting North Alabama communities through accessible trail infrastructure.
Gurley Mayor Stan Simpson, town officials, and other project partners participated in the ceremony which took place on Monday, October 5, 2026, 9:00 a.m. at Gurley Town Hall.
