Betty Louise Brimer, age 79, passed from this life on Saturday October 3, 2026, at her home from an extended illness. Betty was born on April 9, 1947, to the late Silas and Mary Black Simmons. She loved sewing, quilting, and embroidery. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden, but most of all, she loved watching game shows.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Houston Brimer; her son, Timothy Brimer; her brother, Richard Simmons; and her sister, Beulah Brimer.
She is survived by her loving family, including her daughters, Teresa (James) Cunningham and Lisa (Glenn) Smith; special son, Brian Brimer; special daughter, Jennifer (Gary) Mason; grandchildren, Stephanie Cunningham, Jessie (Brandon) Cope, Jaden Brimer, Jared Smith, and Tosha Smith; great-grandchildren, Alex Caballero, Whitley Phillips, Adelyn Caballero, and Ira Cope; brother, John Ed (Wanda) Simmons; and sisters, Margaret Brimer and Mary (Gary) Bumbalough. Several nieces, nephews, and a large extended family also survive.
A funeral ceremony for Mrs. Betty Louise Brimer will be held on Wednesday October 7, 2026, at 1:00pm in the Layne Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Darrell Nance officiating. Burial will follow in Spencer Town Cemetery. Visitation times are Tuesday October 6, 2026, from 3:00pm until 8:00pm and Wednesday October 7, 2026, from 8:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm.
