Melaina Langford, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Rogersville community, was born on May 24, 1962, in Malvern, Arkansas. She was the devoted daughter of Mark and Emma Henslee, both of whom preceded her in death.

Melaina graduated from Glen Rose High School in 1980 and went on to earn her barbering degree from Hinds Junior College in Jackson, Mississippi. It was a profession she loved, and one that allowed her to touch the lives of many in her community.

On June 14, 1986, Melaina married the love of her life, Chris Langford. Their marriage spanned 40 years, filled with joy, laughter, and love. Together they enjoyed boating and fishing, creating a tapestry of cherished memories that would become the foundation of their family life.

Melaina was a devoted mother to her two sons, Josh (married to Johnna) and Zach (married to Scarlet). To her grandchildren, Leo and Henslee, she was “Lai Lai,” and they were the light of her later years. She adored them beyond measure, delighted in watching them grow, and shared with them her love of nature, horses, and life’s simple pleasures.

She is also survived by her brother, Lance Henslee (married to Jeannie), and her sister, Aprile Smith, with whom she shared a lifelong bond of love and support. She was a dear aunt to her niece, Taylor Fuller, and was also loved by her many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In Rogersville, Melaina was not only well known but well loved. She owned and operated Cowboy Cuts barbershop, where her warm personality and exceptional skill left a lasting impression on everyone who sat in her chair. Her shop was more than a place for a haircut. It was a gathering place filled with laughter and camaraderie. She was a member of Center Star Church.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at MD Anderson for their unwavering care and support. Special thanks are also extended to Dr. El-Bahesh at CCI in Huntsville, Alabama, for the compassion and dedication shown to Melaina.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation in Herriman, Utah, in honor of Melaina’s enduring spirit and resilience.

Melaina’s life was a beautiful journey marked by love, kindness, and devotion to family and community. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all those she touched.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 3rd from 11 – 12 at Rogersville Funeral Home.  Funeral service will follow in the chapel with Michael Cole officiating.  Burial will be in Miller Cemetery.
