Joseph Leroy O’Dell, Jr., of Sheffield, formerly from Gloversville, NY, passed away on September 28, 2026, at approximately 3:00 a.m.
He was the son of Joseph L. O’Dell Sr. and Elnora Emma O’Dell. Joseph’s siblings were Victoria Ann O’Dell Nethaway (Ken), Stella Hartwell, Rose Leonard (Ed), Karen Clemovich (Bill), Ronald and Rowena O’Dell.
Joseph married Karen E. Lee on April 25, 1970, and had a daughter, Tina Lynn O’Dell (September 24, 1973 – December 7, 2025), and a son, Joseph L. O’Dell, III (September 6, 1974).
Joseph was a USMC veteran. Joseph Jr. was retired and tried to enjoy life living in Alabama with his wife, Karen. On April 25, 2026, Joe and Karen celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Joseph had developed serious health issues over the years and was on oxygen 24/7/365 until his passing.
Joseph accepted Jesus many years ago as Lord and Savior of his life but didn’t quite live a “saintly” life. He loved his mom, siblings, wife, and both kids.
Joseph also had 5 grandkids, Carrie, Shane, Jacob, Karissa, and Alexis. He also had 15 great-grandchildren, Jaidalyn, Peyton, Bentley, Destin, Landon, Rylee, Molly, Maddie, Malachi, Kayden, Aiden, Michael, Ronan, Addisyn, and Emelya.
Joseph L. and his daughter Tina Lynn are reunited in heaven, and they are both happier and in a much better place than we are. I greatly miss them both so much but will not pray and ask the Lord to send them back to me! They are indescribably happy! I will be soon.
