It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steven Lee Hagood, age 63, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama on September 26, 2026.
Steve was born January 10, 1963 to Walter Lee and Shirley Hagood of Oakman, Alabama. He was a beloved son, grandson, brother, uncle, husband, and a caring friend.
Steve’s life was marked by the relationships he built and the memories he created with those closest to him. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his Grandparents-Spencer and Minnie Fulton; J.D. and Celeste Hagood; his Father-Walter Lee Hagood; his Mother-Shirley Hagood; and his Nephew-Spencer Hagood; his Aunts-Geneva Moore (Jimmy), Dorothy Courington (Coleman), Carolyn “Sis” Evans (Ray) and Darrace Kimbrell (Doyle).
He is survived by his Wife-Jo Ann Rea Hagood, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; his Sister-Sharon Hagood of Oakman, Alabama; his Brother-Jerry Hagood (Marian) of Northport, Alabama; his Brother-Joel Hagood (Jennifer) of Jasper, Alabama; his Niece-Annleigh Hagood of Jasper, Alabama; his Nephews-James and John Watts Hagood of Northport, Alabama; his Nephew-Breck Hagood of Jasper; his Nephews-Nathan (Jessie) Rea and Dusty Rea of Hamilton, Alabama; his Brother-in-law-Danny (Annette) Rea of Hamilton, Alabama; his two precious fur babies-MarLee and Chloe; his Cousins-Larry Moore (Janice), Eddie Moore (Linda), Scott Moore (Beth), Cindy Dunaway (Dan), Greg Kimbrell (Pam), and Amy Hinson (Chris).
Steve was a financial advisor at Stifel Wealth Management in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. His Stifel work family is Sonny Skinner, Mark Causey, Clark Scarvey, Will Humber, Cathy Carr, Jonnie Skinner.
Pallbearers will be Mark Smallwood, Henry Ensor, Scott Brasfield, Joe Brasfield, John Bagby and Kraig Keuter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Carlos South, Kyle South, Bill McGuire, Jeremy Cole, Wade Roe, Brian Scoles, Danny Rea, Nathan Rea, Dusty Rea, Wade O’Mary, Ernie McClinton and Zane Evans.
Steve was an avid guitar player. He was a passionate and dedicated musician who frequently practiced and performed at various venues. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his band brothers and band sisters; Mike Terry, Lindsey Terry, Barry Evans, Jeff Parnell, Susie Daria, Dr. Rush Smith, Emily DeFrance, Ernie McClinton, Drew Taylor and Sara Davidson.
The graveside service will be held at Walker Memory Gardens, located at 1972 Highway 5, Jasper, Alabama 35503 on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Greg Clark will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to any organization loved by Steve, such as the Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or the American Heart Association.
