Maxine Brooks, 81, passed away on September 28, 2026. Maxine peacefully passed away in the early morning of September 28th surrounded by family after a prolonged battle with cancer.Maxine was born in Starkville, MS on September 21, 1945, to Edna Pearl Futrell and Bunk Futrell. She retired from Walmart after 21 years of service.Services will be held on Saturday, October 3rd at 11 a.m. at Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc, MS. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Stringfellow (Danny), and her son, Frank Henry Brooks Jr. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Brittany Brooks, Kristen Cleveland (Dusty), Heather Brooks (TK), Chelsea Gamble (Jordan), Katelyn Brooks, and Zach Cobb (Michaela). Additionally, she has seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Brooks Sr., her parents, and two brothers.
