Laura June Workman Attkisson was born June 10, 1945 in Evansville, IN to the late Arnold and Mary Francis Cummins Workman. Mt. Pleasant would become home for Ms. Attkisson and one of her favorite things in life was to be at home in the Enterprise community. She was the proud mother to a daughter, Michelle Attkisson O’Guin and the proud Ninny to two grandchildren, Kyla O’Guin Young and Carter O’Guin. Laura enjoyed the simple things in life often being found outside of the crowd, supporting from a distance. While she was quick to tell you what she was thinking, she was also quick to be by her family’s side when they needed her. She enjoyed doing puzzles, word searches and reading her Bible. Ms. Attkisson departed this life on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN with her daughter by her side making her stay in this life some 81 years, 3 months, and 14 days.
Survivors include her daughter Michelle Attkisson O’Guin and husband Jason of Centerville, TN; two grandchildren, Kyla O’Guin Young and husband Dylan of Dickson, TN; Carter O’Guin of Centerville, TN. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Jerry McNeece of Mt. Pleasant, TN; sister-in-law Faye Cummins of Summertown, TN; nephews, Randy McNeece and wife Lisa; Brent Cummins and wife Casey; niece Kristy Brown and husband Larry; all of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Britt Cummins and wife Rita of Niceville Florida; Chris Cummins and wife Jana of Summertown TN; Selena King and husband Mark of Columbia TN; Ashley Anderson and husband Jason; of Ethridge, TN; as well as several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Dewey Workman, step-brothers, Malloy Cummins, Steve Cummins, and Larry Cummins; sister-in-law Martha McNeece, sister and brother-in-law Shelia and Tommy May, a niece, Mary Workman and a nephew, Michael Cummins.
Memorial services will be conducted on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at Spencer Hill Church of Christ beginning at 1:30 with Randy McNeece Officiating.
